I am pleased to announce that Jill Higham has accepted the position of Director of Development in our College of Agricultural Sciences. Jill has been at Colorado State University for nearly three years where she has served as the Associate Director of Development for the College of Engineering with primary assignments to the Department of Mechanical Engineering and to the School of Biomedical Engineering. She also spent three years at the University of Wyoming College of Law where she was Director of Development and led fundraising to establish the William N. Brimmer Legal Education Center. Admitted to practice law in Colorado and Wyoming as well as the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, Jill managed a law firm focused on federal litigation prior to joining CSU.
Jill values her roots growing up in rural Wyoming where her father helped support the family with an agricultural business. As a law student, much of her legal research involved land and water issues as well as consumer protection and food safety. Jill has two sons, Marcco and Matteo, and she gives back to the Colorado community by serving on the boards of Crossroads Safehouse, InnovAge, and the new Next Fifty Initiative. Jill is excited by the fundraising potential in connecting College of Agricultural Sciences’ strong heritage with its commitment to innovative education, research, and outreach.
I am excited that Jill will be joining our team in the College of Agricultural Sciences as Director of Development. She not only brings a wealth of fundraising experience, but her time at CSU has helped her incorporate our university’s land-grant mission and culture into her interactions with donors and stakeholders. I would also like to extend a personal thanks to Kim Winger, who led our search committee, and to the members of the search committee who provided invaluable guidance as we moved through the search process.
Please take some time to meet and engage with Jill once she begins transitioning into her new position on Feb. 1.
