Neal Hansen

Neal Hansen holds a B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Nebraska. He is a trustee of the University of Nebraska Foundation and has served  on the advisory board of the College of Engineering at the University of Nebraska, and currently serves on
the advisory board for the School of Equine Science at Colorado State University. Prior to college, Hansen served in the United States Navy, Submarine Service. Hansen started building companies in 1971 when he was one of the founders of First Data Resources, Inc.

He spent 12 years in various senior sales and operating positions, helping develop and grow the company from startup to over $200 million in annual revenues. In 1984, he joined Applied Communications, Inc., first as executive vice president, to create a successful sales and marketing organization. During his tenure,  annual revenues increased from $5 million to $75 million. He eventually became president and CEO of Applied Communications, Inc., which became one of the world’s largest providers of transaction processing software for financial institutions. In addition, he was instrumental in a public offering of ACI and later selling the company to US WEST.

Hansen retired as chairman and CEO of CSG Systems International, Inc. in 2005. He led the leveraged buyout acquisition of CSG from First Data Resources in 1994. At the time of the acquisition, CSG was an $83 million company, providing customer care and  billing systems to the domestic cable television market, and had approximately 550 employees. CSG ended 2004 as a $530 million company, with more than 2,000 employees.

Hansen is an active investor in small and startup companies, real estate, and other entrepreneurial ventures. He is active in the Band of Angels and other deal related entities. Since his retirement from corporate office, he has built, and is active in Hanging
H Ranch. He is also active in a number of conservation efforts and projects, economic development, and support of youth organizations, especially in rural communities.
