Dr. Ajay Menon
Ajay Menon was appointed Dean of the College of Agricultural Sciences and the Director of the Colorado Agriculture Experiment Stations in July 2015. In this role, Dr. Menon is the chief administrative and academic officer with responsibility for leadership of the College’s strategic vision, academic programs, budgets, and related activities including resident instruction, research, outreach, and international collaborations. Prior to this appointment, since July 2002 until June 2015, Dr. Menon served as the Dean of the College of Business at Colorado State University.
From November 2011 to August 2013, Dr. Menon was appointed by Governor John Hickenlooper and served as the state’s first Chief Innovation Officer. In that role, Dr. Menon helped establish and lead the Colorado Innovation Network (COIN) to develop an eco-system in Colorado that cultivates entrepreneurial and innovative activities. In his role as Dean of the College of Business, Dr. Menon led the college’s transformation to a high performing and entrepreneurial school within a large land-grant state university. And currently, he is involved in the transformation of the founding academic college within Colorado State University towards a vision of unquestioned global preeminence.
Professor Menon holds a Ph.D. in Marketing and has been a member of the Marketing Department faculty since 1991. Professor Menon’s teaching and research expertise lie in the areas of International Marketing, New Product Development & Management and Strategic Market Planning. As a Professor of Marketing, Ajay’s research interests lie in the areas of customer loyalty, new product management, and strategy implementation. Professor Menon’s research has appeared in the Journal of Marketing, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Business Research, Handbook of Technology Management, Industrial Marketing Management, Journal of Marketing Management, Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice, and the Journal of Managerial Issues.
Professor Menon has been recognized nationally for his research efforts. He has received awards of excellence for his research efforts from the Journal of International Marketing, Journal of Business-to-Business Marketing, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, and the American Marketing Association. In addition, the World Resources Institute and the Aspen Institute identify Professor Menon’s work in the area of Environmentally-based marketing strategies as one of the most frequently cited works on environmental issues in business. Finally, Professor Menon has received numerous teaching awards including being named “Professor of the Year” at College of Business at Colorado State University.
In addition to his academic and administrative work, Ajay Menon has served as a management consultant to local and multinational companies on issues related to customer satisfaction and loyalty. Finally, Ajay Menon has served on the Boards of Directors or Advisors to profit and non-profit organizations including – Colorado Innovation Network; Junior Achievement – Rocky Mountain, Inc.; Colorado National Bancorp; World’s Fresh Waters, Chile; Convera Corporation; Women’s Vision Foundation; Envirofit Corporation; and the Better Business Bureau of Northern Colorado.
