New and experienced managers and staff with responsibility for pesticide water quality activities at state, tribal, and territory agencies with a FIFRA Cooperative Agreement. Those with future responsibility for pesticide water quality activities should explain on the nomination form how the course will be beneficial to their development.

Course Goal

Enhance capacity for pesticide water quality programs by exploring state and federal requirements for protecting and monitoring surface and ground water. Address current needs and challenges that align with SFIREG Environmental Quality Workgroup initiatives and priorities.

Information to be covered in this course includes:

  • FIFRA Cooperative Agreement Guidance: Pesticides in Water program area
  • communication and coordination within the pesticide program and among other agencies
  • risk communication
  • emerging water quality issues including PFAS

Nomination and Participants


Nominations must be submitted electronically. It is best to prepare your justification for selection before starting your nomination application. To complete the nomination process, please refer to the nomination announcement.

Nominations for the Pesticides and Water Quality course open July 8, 2021 and close August 5, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. (Pacific Time). The PREP Team will make selections no later than August 12, 2021 based on how closely the nominees conform to the target participant criteria and why the training is essential to their job responsibilities.
