Research Interests:

I am interested in understanding basic evolutionary and ecological processes that allow species to colonize and adapt to novel or changing environments. During my Ph.D. I studied rapid adaptive evolution and the effects of intraspecific hybridization in a biological control agent (Longitarsus jacobaeae) introduced to control the exotic weed, tansy ragwort. Currently, I am using a model organism, Tribolium castaneum, to explore the roles demography and genetics play in the founding of new populations and adaptation to a novel environment.
