It is an invasive species in North America, first detected in Pennsylvania in 2014. Since then, this pest has spread to 13 additional states: Connecticut, Delaware, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Rhode Island, Virginia, and West Virginia.
