John Howland served as president of Crest Investment Company for many years before semi retiring. He is currently involved with all Crest investment decisions, serving as chairman, president, or director of some of the companies in which Crest invests. He has structured many acquisitions, divestitures, and financings.
Howland served as chairman of Gulf LNG Energy, LLC, a privately owned, $1.1 billion capitalized company, formed in May 2003 specifically for the Pascagoula Bayou Casotte LNG import terminal project (subsequently named Gulf LNG Clean Energy Project).
Howland has considerable international business and management experience in privately held and public corporations. He has served as a manager for the auditing firm Touche Ross and Company and as consultant for Kearney Management Consultants. John is familiar with all aspects of commodity trading and marketing and has extensive knowledge of international trade and finance as well as the trade practices of many governments. He has experience with many facets of food distribution and marketing and served as chairman and CEO of one of the larger grain companies in the U.S. He has developed and constructed some of the larger grain processing, import and export terminals in the Middle East and on the U.S. Gulf Coast. He has been a guest speaker for a number of universities including Harvard, University of Southern California, and Texas A & M University.
Howland has a B.B.A. from the University of Alabama and an M.B.A. from the University of North Dakota. He also served as captain in the United States Air Force.
