After graduating from Broadneck High School in 2011, I embarked on a journey that took me across the continental United States and abroad. I lived in states such as Alaska, Colorado, Maryland, Maine, and Florida which allowed me to acquire a unique firsthand insight into various forms of environmental pollution and its impact on local communities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When I returned to pursue higher education, I started at Pensacola State Community College (PSC), where I earned my Associate of Arts degree, allowing me to transfer to the University of West Florida (UWF) and complete a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. During my undergraduate degree I participated in a Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program at the Mote Marine Laboratory in Sarasota, FL which focused on studying the acidification of estuarine seawater. I also participated in the CAICE REU at the University of California, San Diego, where I explored the fate of environmental DNA on mineralized surfaces. During my time at UWF I was also a MARC Scholars as well as secretary of the chem club and president of the PSC astronomy club.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Outside of the academic realm, I love to cook, collect cool looking rocks, and annoy my cat pepper. If the sky is clear enough, I also like to travel to dark sky zones and bust out the telescope to look at the satellites of Jupiter or the surface of the moon!
