Jane Choi, Associate Professor
Jane Choi, ASLA is an associate professor of landscape architecture in CSU’s Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture and a founder and principal of C2 | Studio Landscape Architecture, an award-winning Fort Collins-based landscape architecture practice. Jane’s professional work and academic research focuses on the impact of design on culture and society, exploring the intersection of the built environment with cultural identity, human behavior and issues of environmental justice. Of the many forces influencing the urban built environment, she has most recently explored the phenomenon of ‘temporal agents‘ and their impact on the design of public spaces, as well as community health. Her firm has been nationally recognized for proposals for two prestigious international design competitions: Re-imagine Play at Denver’s City Park, which focused on creating a unique, all-ages, year-round, urban play space, and Boston Living with Water, which sought to transform issues of coastal resilience and sea level rise into positive design attributes for Boston’s urban coastline. Her professional projects and research fundamentally inform her pedagogy and teaching, earning her recognition as a 2014-2015 Teaching Fellow with The Institute for Learning and Teaching (TILT) at CSU and as a winner of the Provost’s Course Development Competition. In 2013, she was also honored with a ‘Best Teacher Award‘ by the Colorado State University Alumni Association.
Jane earned a BFA degree in Environmental Design from Parsons The New School for Design and her MLA degree from Harvard’s Graduate School of Design, earning honors for highest achievement in design from both institutions.
