Diversity in Landscape Architecture

Ethnic, Racial, and Gender Diversity

The profession and our program are continuously striving for increased ethnic, racial, and gender diversity. We strongly advocate recruitment and retention of students of all populations and do everything possible to ensure a nurturing environment in the studios and classrooms. We welcome and value students with diverse backgrounds and far-ranging talents and interests. As a part of the Colorado State University community, the Landscape Architecture program has a strong commitment to the University’s diversity initiatives. Please feel free to contact a faculty member directly for communicating needs and questions.

Women have a rich history in the profession and our program continues to thrive with an improving balance of female and male students and faculty. Our talented and dedicated alumnae continue to be accepted at leading graduate schools, and are currently attending Cornell University, Harvard University, the University of Pennsylvania, and Texas A&M University. Presently, there are more women than men in our MLA program.

The American Society of Landscape Architects promotes an active Professional Practice Network in which women convene to share and discuss means for an improved profession. The international group, Urbanistas, promotes interactions among women engaged with the built environment.
