The structure and function of enzymes in metabolic pathways and the contributions of these pathways to plant growth and development will be covered. To that end, students will become proficient in basic modeling of proteins. When appropriate, topics are taught as problem-based situations related to plant production, stress responses, chemical ecology and the production of secondary metabolites of importance to mankind. Students will be able to critically read the scientific literature pertaining to plant biochemistry and metabolism.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #d9782d\"><a style=\"color: #d9782d\" href=\"https:\/\/webdoc.agsci.colostate.edu\/bspm\/Syllabus\/581A2.pdf\">Syllabus<\/a><\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=&#8221;AB 509&#8243; tab_id=&#8221;1641508333609-c90e4847-dab7&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p><strong>Herbicide Selectivity and Action<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is a fully asynchronous online course co-taught be Dr. Dayan and Dr Gaines. It is intended\u00a0 for graduate students in the plant sciences, such as botany, plant ecology, crop science, weed science or horticulture, as well as students\u00a0 with general interest in plants. The course\u00a0is\u00a0also\u00a0intended for\u00a0working\u00a0professionals in\u00a0industry, government, and consulting positions\u00a0 with interest in herbicide use. This\u00a0course will provide\u00a0students\u00a0with\u00a0an\u00a0experiential learning environment\u00a0leading to\u00a0mastery of\u00a0how\u00a0herbicides\u00a0work\u00a0and\u00a0are\u00a0used\u00a0to\u00a0 manage weeds. To that\u00a0end, students\u00a0will\u00a0become proficient\u00a0in\u00a0the\u00a0mechanisms\u00a0of\u00a0action\u00a0of\u00a0herbicides\u00a0and\u00a0their\u00a0effects\u00a0on primary\u00a0metabolic processes.
