My lab focuses on Pectobacterium<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Dickeya<\/em>, which are broad host range bacterial pathogens and we study how these bacteria infect potato and how to best detect these pathogens in potato and in the environment. We are also interested in other high impact potato pathogens, especially\u00a0Potato virus Y<\/em>, and are currently working on projects related to virus resistance and detection in potato.[\/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=”Courses I Teach” font_container=”tag:h3|font_size:25|text_align:left|color:%231e4d2b” google_fonts=”font_family:Roboto%20Slab%3A100%2C300%2Cregular%2C700|font_style:400%20regular%3A400%3Anormal” css_animation=”flipInX”][vc_tta_tabs][vc_tta_section title=” 502B: Topics in Plant Pathology: Plant Bacteriology” tab_id=”1520348642752-299d56cb-ba48″][vc_column_text]The course provides an overview of the broad range of interactions that bacteria have
\nwith plants, with an emphasis on interactions leading to disease. Particular emphasis will
\nbe on the major groups of plant pathogenic bacteria, the diseases they cause, and how
\nthey cause various disease phenotypes. This course builds upon basic concepts
\nprovided in an introductory plant pathology course, and assumes a basic knowledge of
\nmicrobiology.<\/p>\n
