Crop Science Society of America 2020 Award Recipient

MADISON, WI, Jul 27, 2020 – The Crop Science Society of America (CSSA)
announces the following 2020 award recipient. The annual awards are presented for
outstanding contributions to agronomy through education, national and international
service, and research.

Scott D. Haley, Colorado State University, Ft Collins, CO – Crop Science Research Award: Scott Haley is a Professor
and Wheat Breeder in the Soil and Crop Sciences Department at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO. Dr.
Haley received a B.S. from Washington State University and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Colorado State University. In
27 years as a public wheat breeder, Dr. Haley has led or co-led the development and release of 42 improved winter
wheat cultivars (34 at Colorado State, 8 at South Dakota State), 2 improved germplasm lines, and a novel herbicide
tolerance technology. He has authored or co-authored 113 peer-reviewed publications and numerous
Extension/Experiment Station bulletins. Dr. Haley has been active in graduate student training, serving as primary
adviser for 13 M.S. and 9 Ph.D. students and providing committee service for many more. Dr. Haley has served a
variety of organizations, including serving CSSA as Technical Editor for Crop Science and Associate Editor for both
Crop Science and the Journal of Plant Registrations.
