STEP Certificate Program in Seed Technology
The National Seed Science and Technology Certificate Program has been developed and supported by four universities along with the Crop Science Society of America and the USDA Educational Challenge Grant Program.
The purpose of this coordinated National Certificate Program is to educate seed science and technology professionals to meet the growing needs of the seed industry.
The courses are designed to be taught as modules and delivered by distance education to meet both the needs of a degree seeding student seeking academic credit, as well as industry related students for CEU (Continuing Education Unit) credits.
This program is designed to prepare the student to become a seed analyst in a commercial, state, or federal seed laboratory. Students may select from an array of courses offered via distance education from Colorado State University and other institutions. Important aspect of this program include 1000 hours of hands on experience at a local laboratory and creation of a seed herbarium–both requirements for the AOSA and SCST exams.
Students will be prepared to take the AOSA or SCST exams for their Certified Seed Analyst or Registered Seed Technologist credential.
