Colorado State University College of Agricultural Sciences and Northeast Community College in Nebraska have partnered together to strengthen the agricultural workforce for a sustainable future by creating a career pathway for Northeast graduates to transfer and complete an online bachelor\u2019s degree in the area of agronomy. Students will complete the program with a major in Soil and Crop Sciences.<\/p>\n

Agriculture faces numerous complex challenges, as we need to feed a growing population, enhance the efficiency of agriculture, while addressing issues of soil degradation and pollution. At the same time, employers across the agriculture industry from small to large businesses, those in traditional agriculture to those specializing in regenerative agriculture, are unable to fill their workforce pipeline with high quality employees that possess transformational skills.<\/p>\n

This new partnership with Northeast Community College\u2019s Associate in Agronomy and Colorado State University\u2019s new Soil and Crop Sciences: Sustainable Agricultural Management concentration creates an accessible pathway for students to enter the workforce by establishing a solid foundation of agronomic principles and practices to achieve economic and environmental sustainability while helping design and develop the agroecosystems of tomorrow. Students learn from world-renowned researchers and faculty to build practical knowledge of farming systems and utilize advanced technologies to drive decision-making in cropping system management, while maintaining or improving soil health.<\/p>\n
