CSU Virtual Weed Science Tour 2020

Welcome to the CSU Virtual Weed Science Tour across the Colorado Front Range!

Due to the restrictions set forth by Larimer County and CSU for COVID-19, we are not able to gather as a group this year. Although we are not able to meet in person, we still want to share all the great research and work happening in rangeland, open space, and rights-of-way! We welcome public and private land managers, industry representatives, and all those interested in learning more about managing invasive plant species, as well as revegetation and restoration in these areas.

The virtual tour will consist primarily of videos for each tour site with information about the goals, objectives, and overall findings. Some sites include kochia and cheatgrass management in rights-of-way and revegetation/restoration research plots at the Denver International Airport, resistant kochia management, chemical mowing options using Derigo, bare ground sites, restoration of wildlife and pollinator habitat with cheatgrass control, management of problematic rangeland/natural area weeds, and more.

Along with these videos, there are two sites people can visit if they choose. The location for these sites is provided in the PDF, “Tour Site Directions.” These sites will have tour signs and treatment signs with information about the studies. Sites will be available to visit throughout the week of July 13th. We encourage everyone to visit the sites! As always, please practice social distancing and limit the number of people, if traveling in a group.

It is unfortunate we cannot meet as a group this year as we enjoy meeting new and old faces and creating new relationships. However, we hope that you all enjoy this new format of a virtual tour. Please let us know if you have any questions regarding this new format. The website and videos will be available for viewing at any time after the week of July 13th.

Thank you for your cooperation and willingness to be a part of this year’s tour! We welcome any suggestions and comments on how we can improve the format and make it even better for the future.

Stay safe and healthy!
