Biography
Andrew (Andy) Seidl, Ph.D. is professor of agricultural and resource economics and Nutrien distinguished scholar of agricultural sciences, Colorado State University. He also supports the UNDP biodiversity finance initiative (BIOFIN) as senior technical advisor. Andy’s work focuses on natural resource-based economic development, biodiversity finance, and private lands conservation policy with recent work in journals of Nature Ecology and Evolution, Parks, World Development, Restoration Ecology, Ecosystem Services, Conservation Letters, Ecological Economics, and Environment and Development Economics. Andy is faculty of the Colorado School of Public Health and the CSU School of Global Environmental Sustainability (SOGES) and on the advisory board of the Salazar Center for North American Conservation. Previously, Seidl was Head, Global Economics Programme, International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Switzerland, Natural Resource Economist, Brazilian Center for Agricultural Research in the Pantanal (CPAP-EMBRAPA), Brazil, and Commodity Analyst, UN-FAO, Italy. Seidl holds a BA in economics and international relations from the University of Wisconsin and a PhD in food and resource economics from the University of Florida, USA.
