Biography
Micky Eubanks is an applied insect ecologist and evolutionary biologist focused on managing invasive species, especially insects, and mitigating their interactions with plants and other animals. Eubanks has studied invasive pests in field crops, vegetables, and ornamental plants including cotton, sorghum, soybean, tomato, collards, pumpkin, cucumber, and poinsettia. Eubanks has studied invasive herbivores (plant pests), as well as invasive ants, mosquitos, and ticks. Eubanks' work seeks to accurately predict the results of interactions among arthropods and other organisms. This work addresses fundamental questions in ecology (e.g., the relationship between biodiversity and interaction strength, the ecological strength of mutualisms, etc.) while also providing the means to predict the outcome of complex interactions in managed systems.
