Jim serves as Associate Vice President at the CSU Spur campus in Denver, coordinating all academic programs for CSU, including higher education offerings, research, community and industry engagement. Jim is also a molecular plant genetics. His research focuses on the evolutionary and functional genomics of disease resistance in plants with the goal of making crop plants less depending on chemical inputs. Jim teaches AB558 "Current Topics in Molecular Plant Health".
