Biography
Nicki is pursuing a Masters of Science Degree in Animal Science with a focus on equine-assisted services, under supervision of Dr. Caiti Peters at the Temple Grandin Equine Center. Her research focuses on examining various physiological indicators of self-regulation in Autistic Youth during equine interaction. While at Colorado State University, Nicki hopes to gain more insight into the human-animal bond to build upon her undergraduate experiences and education. Nicki earned her Bachelor’s of Science at Cornell University (2020-2024). While at Cornell, she studied agricultural science, with an emphasis on beef cattle production, human development, and education. In addition, she worked with various departments at the university to design an original beef donation program funded by a Cornell Tradition grant. Her goal for the future is to design therapeutic curriculum that connects individuals in need of social emotional development with agriculture and our food production system.
