Program Overview
The Master of Extension Education prepares students with the skills and knowledge to develop impactful programs and deliver educational resources as community educators.
Extension educators are a vital link between the communities they serve and the resources offered by land-grant universities. This is a teaching and learning degree with an emphasis on non-formal community education principles and delivery methods.
Students focus on extending university knowledge and resources to communities throughout the state. The program helps students learn about local community needs and develop education programs to address them.
The curriculum is tailored to meet students’ academic and professional goals and is designed to elevate their experiences in Extension education methods and practices.

Graduate Certificate Pathway
Students who are not ready to commit to the full master’s program may start with the online Graduate Certificate in Teaching in Extension.
All 13 credits from the certificate can transfer into the Master of Extension Education program with a grade of B or better and can be applied toward the degree after formal admission per University transfer policies.
Successful completion of the courses or certificate does not guarantee admission to the degree program.

Tuition & Support
- $643 per credit (online tuition; same rate worldwide)
- Federal financial aid and scholarships may be available
- Additional financial resources can be accessed through CSU Online and the Office of Financial Aid
Student Employment
Graduate assistantships (GTA, GRA, GSA) and hourly positions may be available. Students should contact their advisor and department graduate coordinator for current opportunities.
Faculty and Research
The Master of Extension Education connects students with Extension education methods, community-based research, fieldwork, workshops, training, and online informational resources.
Students learn to coordinate and mobilize efforts to address challenging situations by conducting fieldwork, providing workshops and training, and creating online informational resources.
Agricultural Research and Development Center
Work directly with crops and livestock at this research and teaching complex — one of ten around the state.

Get hands-on experience in laboratory, technology, and teaching spaces so you can successfully teach future generations about agriculture.
