Lynne Lewis was a curious kid growing up in Connecticut. She had a special attraction to nature and loved spending time outside.

“I knew the name of every rock, every butterfly,” she said. “I liked science, and I was one of those kids who never got tired of learning.”

Lewis attended the University of Colorado at Boulder with the vague intention of eventually going to veterinary school at CSU. Fast forward a few years, she had a degree in international affairs and an intense interest in western water issues. It was after college that she discovered economics. The pairing of economic tools with her interest in science and love of nature led to her finding her calling in environmental and resource economics.
