Why I should take this training
This course fulfills the training requirementĀ (as described in the Pesticide Applicatorsā Act as defined in Sections 35-10-109 (2)(a) and (2)(b) of the Colorado Revised Statutes) forĀ limited commercial and public applicators who DO NOTĀ hold a Colorado Department of Agriculture Commercial Pesticide Applicator license. Non-licensed limited commercial and public applicators are required to meet the training requirement within 3 years PRIOR to the date of any application. More information on this requirement can be found in the Rules and Regulations Pertaining to the Administration and Enforcement of the Pesticide Applicators’ Act, Part 16.
This training program can also be used to fulfill 2.5 hours of Commercial Applicator Technician Training (as required inĀ Part 5 of 8 CCR 1203-2, “Rules and Regulations Pertaining to the Administration and Enforcement of the Pesticide Applicators’ Act). What’s in the training?
The training consists of five interactive modules that are self-paced. Module content includes core elements of pesticide use including IPM and Laws Governing the Use of Pesticides; Understanding Pesticide Labels and Safety Data Sheets; Applicator Safety; Pesticide Application; and Environmental Protection and Public Health. At the conclusion of each module, an āUnderstanding the Moduleā quiz will be given. All questions on the quiz must be answered correctly or the participant will be redirected to the information concerning the incorrect response. Upon successful completion of all five modules, a certificate will be issued. This certificate should be retained by the employer for a period of 3 years.
Instructions on Accessing the Training
Step 1. Click HERE to register for the Non-Credit Course through eXtension Online Campus.Ā Please view these modules using Chrome or Firefox browsers. They may not record your progress properly when viewed in Internet Explorer.
Step 2. Click on “Create new account” below the Login box.
Step 3. Read the “Privacy Policy” and Click “Next”.
Step 4.Ā Read the “Terms of Use” and Click “Next”.
Step 5. Agree to “Privacy Policy” and “Terms of Use” by clicking the checkbox and then “Next”.
Step 6. Choose your username and password. Complete the remaining sections entitled “More Details” and “Demographics”. Then click “Create my new account”.
Step 7.Ā Confirm your account by clicking the link in the email from eXtension (it will be sent to the email address entered when registering).
Step 8. After creating an account, simply return to the eXtension Campus and login.
Step 9. Select the “Pest Management” tab and scroll down to the “Colorado Basic Pesticide Training”.Ā There is NO FEE required for this training!Ā Ā Or Click HERE to directly access the training (it can be difficult to find in the list due to many states offering courses!)
