Smiling woman in a portrait photoDr. Kellie Enns has been selected to serve as Associate Dean for Academic and Faculty Affairs in the College of Agricultural Sciences at Colorado State University. Enns, a faculty member in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics and longtime leader of CSU’s agricultural education program, will begin her new role on May 1.

“Kellie has such a growth mindset and brings creative ideas for some of the good change we need to advance innovation for training students in today’s ag,” said Carolyn Lawrence-Dill, Dean of the College of Agricultural Sciences.

Enns will provide leadership in undergraduate education, faculty development, and academic program enhancement to expand the college’s capacity to serve students and to support the current trend for record-breaking enrollment growth in the college.

“I believe that our success as a college is our ability to reflect our Colorado agriculture industry, making the curriculum and research that our faculty invest in relevant,” said Enns. “I am most proud of being called a shameless advocate for undergraduate students – and hope to bring a vision that will inspire students to come to CSU from all corners of our state and then to persist to contribute as amazing alumni.”

Enns has a B.S. in Animal Science from Washington State University and a Master’s of Agriculture and Teacher Licensure from CSU. She spent 9 years of her career as a classroom teacher and high school FFA advisor, then went on to earn her Ph.D. in Education and Human Resource Studies from CSU, with an emphasis in Educational Leadership. Since 2005, she has led significant programmatic advancements, including transitioning the Agricultural Education program from the College of Health and Human Sciences into the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics in the College of Agricultural Sciences. She grew the program by hiring and mentoring faculty and expanding curriculum offerings. Her leadership has driven improvements in student success, faculty development and program accessibility, including founding the CoBank Center for Agricultural Education and CAM’s Ag Academy.

“What we’re doing today isn’t what we were doing a decade ago, and Kellie’s vision to keep our students on the leading edge is exactly what we need right now,” said Lawrence-Dill. “Kellie is such a rockstar and perfect to lead in this space.”

Enns’ selection follows a college-wide search process that included input from CSU faculty, staff and students, as well as stakeholders and industry representatives.
