8:30am – Meet at the Plainsman Agri-Search Foundation Research Center Farm for introductions and field tour (4 mi. north of Walsh on Rd. 43, 1.5 mi. west on Rd. HH)

9am – Tour of research studies at Plainsman Farm featuring:

  • Dryland grain and forage sorghum variety trials
  • Dryland corn variety trial
  • Dryland Sunflower variety trial
  • Strip-till and no-till comparison on dryland grain sorghum
  • Dryland grain sorghum production comparison using narrowrow single disc drill and 30 in. row vacuum planter
  • N rate in strip-till dryland grain sorghum
  • P2O5 rate and timing in dryland grain sorghum

2025 Wheat Field Days

The 2025 Wheat Field Days will be held in early June across nine sites in eastern Colorado. Please visit the CSU Crops Testing site for the full schedule and directions.

Wednesday, June 4th:

  • Akron at 8:15 a.m. USDA-ARS Central Plains Research Center.  Directions: Meet at USDA shed north of hwy.  From Akron, east on Hwy 34 for 4 mi to CR GG. Turn north on CR GG, and take first turn to west towards shop.  GPS: 40.1536078, -103.1376071
  • Yuma at 4 p.m. Andrews Brothers Farms.  Directions: From Yuma go  east on Hwy 34 to county road J, North 4.8 miles, go east on private drive. Field on north side, far east trial.  GPS: 40.18668, -102.65383

Thursday, June 5th:

  • Walsh at 10 a.m.  CSU Plainsman Research Center. Directions: From west side of Walsh, north 4 mi on Rd 43, west 1.5 mi on Rd HH. Research station on south side of Rd HH. GPS: 37.4345, -102.3192
  • Brandon (Sheridan Lake) at 4 p.m.  Scherler Farms.  Directions: From Hwy 96 west of Brandon, north 7 miles on CR 58 (curves west 1 mile, then back north), east side of road at bulk tanks (1/4 mi. south of county road W). GPS: 38.53855, -102.46983

  • Burlington at 8 a.m. Hinkhouse/Yahn Site. Directions:  From I-70 exit 437 go south on highway 385 for ½ mile to county road U. Turn west. South side of county road, NE dryland corner of pivot. GPS: 39.28622, -102.27941

  • Julesburg at 8:00 a.m. Carlson Farms.  Directions: From I-76 exit 172 (Ovid), south on CR 29 for 6 mi to CR 14.  East on CR 14 for 2.4 mi (from Hwy 385 go west 5.7 mi on CR 14) to farm yard and shop on south side. Plot tour after meal. GPS: 40.8363, -102.34011
