Biography
Chelsea was born and raised in Harbin, China, known as the “Ice City” for its ice sculpture festival in the winter. She moved to California for high school and then pursued a B.S. degree in Chemistry at Chapman University in southern California. At Chapman, Chelsea researched main-group catalysis under the Liberman-Martin Group, served as a supplemental instructor for organic chemistry courses, and tutored at several local tutoring services. After graduation, she took a gap year to teach a physical chemistry lab course at Chapman, while working at a biotech startup focusing on pre-clinical inhalation device development in Irvine, California. Chelsea joined the Borch Group in fall 2024 to continue furthering her passion for chemistry. Her research focuses on advancing FTICR-MS methods for the analysis of PFAS, DOC, and plastic additives. Chelsea likes traveling, cooking, and hunting for good restaurants in her free time.
