Building Community and Our Future
We Prioritize Community and Partnerships
We are proud of our ongoing commitment to creating and fostering partnerships with leaders and innovators in the agricultural industry. The College of Agriculture’s Strategic Plan outlines the essential need to create unique and value added learning experiences for our students and our community, and the role of collaborative research to generate knowledge and identify solutions.
Join Us for Our Webinar Series

Annual Livestock and Horse Sales
Sponsored by the Department of Animal Sciences
We are offering age-advantaged and altitude tested bulls and females. This year we are offering Angus, Hereford, and Polled Herefords. We also have a set of black baldy breeds for sale this year.
Department of Animal Sciences John E. Rouse Beef Improvement Center has an annual sale offering yearling bulls. Performance records and breeding documentation are provided.
Industry Partner Programs
The first university partnership with ASPCA’s Right Horse program. Students in our our Equine Assessment, Evaluation and Training course build specialized skills to retrain and market horses through affiliated Right Horse rescues in Colorado.
We offer two “away” camp sessions for horse enthusiasts during the summer break. This is a very popular camp and it fills up quickly. Be sure to register early to get a spot.
This three day judging camp is designed for 4-H and FFA members from ages 14-18. It’s a great prep for competitive livestock evaluation and developing oral communication skills.
Spring Branding Awards
B.W. Pickett Arena
This event recognizes our outstanding students, industry supporters, and alumni. Recipients will be posted on the AnSci Intranet after the ceremony.
Courses and Learning Experiences
There are several ways our students get to participate in the National Western Stock Show. Our Seedstock Merchandising Team is one example of how our students are optimizing their educational experience by interfacing with industry partners in a hands-on, real-world application.
Seedstock Merchandising Team and Courses
We integrate three individual courses for juniors and seniors who are interested in livestock breeding and genetics, data management, event promotion, and livestock handling and care. Our seedstock students are immersed in challenging hands on experiences where they help manage the CSU herd at ARDEC and bring their animals to market at events like the Western National Stockshow.
Student Run Programs
Our student run facility offers locally produced, high-quality meats for sale at competitive prices. We are proud to be a local food producer and show our customers where our food comes from.
