Growing up the youngest of four on Colorado’s Eastern Plains, Don Thorn gravitated toward agriculture more than his siblings. The family raised corn and tried growing just about every type of edible dry bean that seemed worth a shot. For Thorn, there was something magical about planting seeds and seeing a bountiful crop rising from the earth.
“The best gift my parents gave me was raising me on an irrigated farm in Yuma, Colorado,” Thorn said.
