⚠️ Information and Updates Regarding COVID-19's Impact on the College of Agricultural Sciences

Plant Growth Facilites

Plant Growth Facilities

The Plant Growth Facilities are always blooming with new research and ideas. We are an Institutional Core Research Facility, managed by the Agriculture Experiment Station. Our facility houses over 60,000 square feet of research space including greenhouses, growth and biocontainment chambers, teaching greenhouses, classrooms, and of course, a conservatory.

The PGF is an Institutional Core Facility, which supports the strategic goals of the Colorado State University (CSU) research mission. The facility offers short and long-term greenhouse space, growth chambers, cold storage rooms, laboratories, and short-term warehouse storage to facilitate research for faculty, staff and students from colleges including the College of Agricultural Science, Warner College of Natural Resources and the College of Natural Sciences. In addition to providing research facilities, PGF supports several Horticulture, Biology and Natural Resource classes and clubs. PGF provides research and teaching facilities to approximately 45 research labs and over 300 users each semester.

The PGF main facility has approximately 42,000 ft2 of space, including 7 research bays, 14 growth chambers, laboratories and a public Conservatory. Our south facility (aka ‘south houses’) contains over 18,000 ft2 of biocontainment greenhouses, a growth chamber hotel, a laboratory and an autoclave area.

Plant Growth Facility Access Requirements

To keep our facilities secure, and our staff safe, we require you to complete the following prior to receiving access to our greenhouses.

Updated COVID Procedures

As we slowly phase in non-critical research at our facility, we have adjusted our standard practices to align with those of the University and the state. Please review our updated PGF COVID Safety Standard Operating Procedure and help us keep everyone safe. We encourage PIs to review and develop a safety plan and SSOP unique to your lab.

Reminder: all employees must complete the Daily Employee Health Screening Form

Greenhouse 110 is devoted to research for the CSU Wheat Breeding and Genetics Program. Our activities include making crosses for development of new breeding populations and conduct of wheat x maize doubled haploid line development for rapid production of new experimental breeding lines. These activities lead directly to development and release of improved wheat varieties for producers in Colorado and other states in the region.
